There are times in life where my somewhat cynical outlook on humanity is shattered. I don’t have a lot of faith about humanity in general. Society is so self-absorbed. Me. Me. Me. That’s all that matters. But occasionally, someone steps up and provides hope. It’s reaffirming to see the youth of America trying to do what is right. As a result, the future doesn’t look so bleak.
In Texas, a basketball coach, a team manager with a developmental disability and a rival basketball player provided the setting for a pretty touching moment. For some reason, when these moments happen in sports, they are extra touching. Maybe it’s that there are usually two rivals squaring off in a battle for athletic supremacy. Usually, we see the “me-world” of sports. So it’s particularly nice to see athletes think of someone other than themselves.
