The family and I took a trip into the city yesterday for something different to do. It’s not my favorite thing to do because of the crowds, but it was fun. We walked a ton. My son and I did some street shooting. I really think this is the best I’ve shot since starting back with taking pictures after a six-year layoff. I’m shooting with a Lumix (Panasonic) LX-5 point and shoot. For point and shoots, it’s a good camera, but nothing like what I used to handle in my professional days. It does a good job but has a little trouble with highlights and there is a delay in the focus. So street shooting can be challenging at times. Personally, I could care less about gear.
The beauty of street shooting, no editors to answer to. Especially editors that have no clue about photography. There are plenty of those creatures in the newspaper business and unfortunately they are killing true documentary style photojournalism. Luckily there are photographers out there willing to take up the fight for good pictures. I didn’t have any more fight in me.
I shoot for myself. That’s the only way I can manage to regain any love for photography. It’s a slow process, but as you can hopefully tell by my work, the “fondness” is beginning to return. My favorites from this day are near the top. There are a number of themes running through the work. I’ll let you figure it out. I’ve done enough rambling.

My son taking in the skyscrapers. I ended up going black and white with this because it just didn't look right in color.
Hope you enjoyed the work. Until next time,
Peace
