There is a lot to be grateful for this weekend. Despite being sick from my freakin’ allergies, life is absolutely incredible. It started Friday at school with an incredible day with eighth graders on a field trip. It finally feels as if the school year is coming to an end. While I’ll really miss my students, I need a break. I’m emotionally pooped. But my soul is overflowing with the wonderful experiences I’ve had the opportunity to share with my students this year.
My daughter graduated this weekend from high school. She’ll be heading off to school in August. She will join my oldest in going away to college, even though they’ll be a different schools. He graduated a few years ago. The absence of my two oldest come August will be incredibly difficult. I’m tremendously proud of the young adults they’ve become.
This weekend is one of celebration. Pretty much all of our immediate families attended my daughter’s graduation and party. It was nice to have both sides of the family together celebrating. My daughter deserves all the accolades she has earned. She finished the year ranked eighth out of close to 475 students. She worked her butt off to maintain those grades and gave up a lot.
It’s really difficult to put into words just how much this weekend means. I’m just overflowing with thanks. We are incredibly blessed and thankful for all the gifts we’ve received. To top it off, I did a little street photography at my daughter’s graduation. This approach is much different from all the graduations I shot when I was in newspapers. Most of this work was shot from my waste without looking through the viewfinder. I think the only picture I looked at to frame was the most cliché picture of the group. The work is fairly solid, but honestly, as long as I’m having fun, who cares!
Enjoy the photos and until next time-
